Laura Villasenin founded Miista in 2010 in East London with the aim of creating original shoes that combined innovative textures and shapes while maintaining a democratic price point for luxury items. She felt there was a gap in the market for high-quality footwear made from exclusively European-sourced materials alongside radical design. Inspired by their upbringing in the North of Spain, where craftsmanship runs deep in their family history, she and her brother Pablo emphasized the importance of durable fashion that lasts. Then brand invested in their own factory to produce Miista's inaugural Autumn/Winter 2021 ready-to-wear collection, with a primary focus on utilizing the skills of a close knit group of artisans.
